The 2011 Open Championship

What's up! Sorry for the long absence but there's been so much going on that I'll admit that I've neglected to write anything for quite a while. But it couldn't be a more perfect time to start writing again with the first round of the 2011 Open Championship (a.k.a. the British Open) starting in a few moments.

This golfing major has a special spot in history due to the fact that its 'the one to win'. Like Wimbledon in tennis, The Formula 1 Grand Prix of Monaco, or the London Marathon...this is the event that all golf professionals wanna be at. This year it will be held at Royal St George's on the English south coast.

My pick for this year has got to be 22-year old Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland. This guy can play! And fresh from thrashing the opposition at the 2011 U.S. Open last month, he's probably in prime position to take another major. And I really wouldn't mind seeing him win again.

Here's another look back at the moment Rory McIlroy took the U.S. Open title on June 19, 2011. Quite an inspirational story after he failed to win despite leading into the final day at the 2011 Masters tournament in April.

  1. Eh whats this fuss abt rory here and rory that huh??? Just bcoz he just won the US Open recently, people start comparing him to Tiger! Hello, go have a sandwich and milk at the kitchen!

While he impresses many, he still has a long way to go.....and in golf, as we know it through our experience.....anything can happen. But to be compared to Tiger takes more than winning the US Open.

Anyway, its good that the blog is up an running again!

  2. Yea I don't understand why he's being compared to Tiger right now. I think Rory himself also doesn't understand why.

For me it's his swing that I like. And his confidence.
